Resources for to Help Alleviate Anxiety and Stress
After the birth of my son, I began experiencing panic attacks. Debilitating fear would come out of nowhere and leave my heart pounding and thoughts racing. I struggled with anxiety and panic attacks for almost eight years, sometimes with medication. Then I discovered Jon Kabat-Zin’s book Full Catastrophe Living and participated in an 8-week “Mindful-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) workshop, which changed my life forever – for the better. By the end of the 8-week program, I no longer needed medication and haven’t since (that was almost 20 years ago).
Along the way, I found the following resources to be very helpful. Give them a try and see what you think.
Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) for Anxiety & Stress Reduction
What is EFT? EFT is a self help technique in which you tap on your body’s meridian points (like acupuncture) to help release blocked energy on a particular issue. Learn more about EFT. My favorite EFT videos are by Brad Yates with Success Beyond Belief.
Learning how to meditate and incorporating it into your daily life is probably the single most important thing you can do to help reduce anxiety and stress. Google “Mindful-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), (your city, state)” to find a workshop or instructor near you.
